LOKI debuted yesterday on Disney plus.And believe me it was so great to see Tom Hiddleston back in action.He always nailed the character in previous MCU movies so far. But this strikes on another level as we here are invested in this character 40 minutes straight which is not the case in movies.
Marvel Studios is new in the streaming field and I think are still figuring out the right formula that works. But to the audiences surprise all the three shows they brought up until now were so different tonally and genre wise.
The trailers were on point for this show and were successful in teasing that the mischievous LOKI has arrived yet again to entertain the fans. The thing with Marvel shows is once they drop the discussion is all over the internet and you cannot keep yourself out from getting spoiled.Wednesday release surely would not have affected the viewership and it is onto the viewer to stay away from the spoiler stuff and enjoy the episode to the fullest.
Personally I think this is the best marvel pilot episode so far compared to the two previous shows. Not to take anything away from the last two shows but this was superior in the way it set up the rest of the season is just great. Ten minutes into the show I started realising that the tone was laid back and not rapid fast which I actually admired. Getting to know the TVA as an audience for the first time alongside Loki himself is great.
The episode was in no hurry to set things up and move.They took time to slowly unravel how powerful TVA was and by the end of the episode both Loki and audience know what they are up against.It felt to me like a movie.The dialogue in the episode is just great. The banter between Owen Wilson's Agent Mobius and Tom Hiddleston's Loki is so well done and it just keeps you hooked in this TVA setup.Although the show dealing with all these messed up timelines and having the danger of multiverse ahead if not acted accordingly is bound to be good and it is.And revealing Loki as unidentified D.B Copper is just masterful writing the show has. The scene where Loki watches his future literally gave me chills.
What I liked the most about this Episode 1 "Glorious Purpose" is the way Marvel found a way to reintroduce a character like Loki again after all these years in audiences mind is just done so well.All this comes down to Hulk taking the stairs in 2012 which messed up Loki's life for now.Let's see what all adventures Loki goes through to entertain fans during which I think is toughest for entire humanity.
